JucaoCarlson Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling based martial art that relies on position, leverage and technique. Widely regarded as the most comprehensive and dominant self defense system on the planet, BJJ allows the smaller, weaker person to protect themselves using submission holds without striking. BJJ is traditionally trained while wearing a Gi (Martial Arts uniform) so participants can better learn technique.

History
Originally introduced by the Japanese to the Gracie family in the early 1920’s, traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu was modified by Helio Gracie to accommodate smaller body frames. Helio incorporated technique and leverage in to Jiu-Jitsu and replaced strength and speed. Over the years the techniques were refined and passed on to his children. With these techniques, his son Royce Gracie won the first several UFC competitions and BJJ was thrust in to the spotlight. Today BJJ is a base discipline for all mixed martial artists and is on of the fastest growing styles of martial arts in the world. Classes
ATTA offers classes that will accommodate a fresh white belt to the most advanced black belt. The BJJ class consists of a 20-30 warm up, approximately 30 minutes of technique drilling and 20-30 minutes of live grappling sparring. All students are welcome to come so please bring your belt and gi to class and if you do not have a gi, you can purchase one from us.
